Photofacial Rejuvenation (From £75.00)
Visible signs of ageing can cause a person to appear much older than he or she actually is, and can also diminish the attractiveness of one’s appearance. However, signs of ageing may not be totally preventable or avoidable – and the best way to deal with them is to take care of skin, and to seek improvement through a cosmetic treatment from Woodbury Dental and Laser Clinic in Kent, such as a photofacial rejuvenation.
What is Photofacial Rejuvenation?
Photofacial Rejuvenation is a series of intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments that have the goal of improving the appearance of the skin, especially signs of ageing. Photofacial Rejuvenation is used in the treatment of age spots, photo aging. Rosacea, flushing, broken capillaries, and sun damaged skin; the treatment is also performed to improve the appearance of mild acne scars, to correct dark circles around the eyes, to reduce large pores, and to reduces fine facial lines. Treatments are especially effective for improving the appearance of the face, neck, chest, and hands.
The Photofacial Rejuvenation treatment is designed to effectively fight the effects of aging and damaged skin in a much gentler manner. The light energy emitted during a Photofacial Rejuvenation treatment stimulates the production of collagen, which works to soften and smooth out the appearance of the skin.
The Photofacial Rejuvenation Procedure
A local or topical anaesthetic may be used by the cosmetic practitioner or physician prior to the actual Photofacial Rejuvenation procedure, to ensure that the patient does not encounter too much discomfort throughout the entire treatment period. The light energy that is directed onto the skin will feel something like a piece of rubber band being snapped against the skin; after the procedure, very minimal to zero pain or discomfort can be expected.
The skin on the area that will be treated will be cleaned to ensure that no dirt and oil remains on the skin surface. A cool gel will also be applied to the skin just before the Photofacial Rejuvenation treatment starts.
During the Photofacial Rejuvenation treatment, light energy is gently emitted through a special hand piece to the area that needs to be improved. The levels of energy will be adjusted to according to the patient’s individual treatment needs, to ensure that skin improvement is maximised. The light energy is then absorbed by the targeted damaged tissue, and stimulates the production of collagen to improve the skin tone and texture. The regeneration or production of collagen will result to new skin that has no fine lines or wrinkles, and will be more youthful looking than the “old” skin.
After a single Photofacial Rejuvenation treatment, the skin will visibly start to have a more even tone, and a smoother texture and appearance. The Photofacial Rejuvenation treatment will also cause pores to shrink, and sun/age spots to fade noticeably; fine lines and wrinkles will gradually decrease in size as well. The improvements on the skin conditions will increase with time, and with more Photofacial Rejuvenation treatment sessions.
The entire Photofacial Rejuvenation treatment can be finished in 15 to 45 minutes, depending in the size of the area that will be treated.
